Tis’ The Season For Giving
In my opinion, the holiday season is the best time of year.
I love hanging out with my family and showing gratitude for all the good things we have. Great relationships, a safe place to live, and food on the table are just a few of the simple things many take for granted.
Oh, and don’t let me forget about health. That’s a big one. Being healthy is such a blessing.
Unfortunately for many, health is a major concern. Any illness is tough, but I think the toughest is a child going through a major illness such as cancer. This has affected my family and I have watched loved ones go through this harrowing process.
Thankfully through advances in modern medicine, many cancers are curable if they are caught early. Of course, these advances come at a high economic cost. The costs of treating cancer are mind boggling. It can be devastating emotionally and financially.
The holiday season is a great time to give back…
Show your gratitude for all the great things in your life by giving to any charity you feel is worthy. There are hundreds of charities you can support. Pick one near and dear to your heart and give whatever you can afford. Even if it’s a small amount, every little bit helps.
The one I’ll be giving to this year is the Ronald McDonald House.
It’s a program providing housing to families whose child is going through a long term illness such as cancer. Many families have to travel long distances to hospitals specializing in treating a particular illness. Travelling back and forth is out of the question for many. Staying at a local hotel gets expensive very quickly.
The Ronald McDonald House steps up and assists these families. They provide home cooked meals, private bedrooms, and playrooms for children. Some of the houses even have education programs for the patient and their siblings.
Having the opportunity to keep a family together helps the healing process. All of this is provided at little, or sometimes no cost, to the families.
I’d encourage you to show your support to the Ronald McDonald House this holiday season. You can donate directly through this link:

Whatever charity or organization you choose to give to this holiday season, thank you! Your generosity goes a long way to assisting others in need.
