Donating To The USO Is A Great Way To Give Back
Happy Holidays!
It seems like only yesterday I was making my 2011 New Year’s resolutions. And now Christmas is just days away!
Is it just me, or do the years go by faster the older you get? It sure feels that way…
Maybe it isn’t that I’m growing older. It could be that time flies because I’m lucky enough to get to spend time with my loving family, great friends, and working at a job I love.
I’m thankful I get to go home to my family every night. However, not everyone’s as lucky as I am.
Hundreds of thousands of men and women in the armed forces don’t get to go home to their family every night. They’re deployed around the globe protecting American interests abroad. And ultimately they ensure you and I have the freedom we so often take for granted.
The sacrifices our men and women in uniform make are immeasurable. They deserve our gratitude and thanks.
And more importantly, they deserve to get to talk to their families this holiday season.
This year the USO is working hard to provide 10 million minutes of talk time to connect our troops and their families this holiday season.
You see, their mission statement is “The USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families.” And I’d say getting to talk to your family over the holidays qualifies as spirit lifting.
According to the USO website…
Millions of times each year at hundreds of locations around the world, the USO lifts the spirits of America’s troops and their families. A nonprofit, congressionally chartered, private organization, the USO relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities. The USO is not part of the U.S. government, but is recognized by the Department of Defense, Congress and President of the United States, who serves as Honorary Chairman of the USO.
To put it bluntly, The USO relies on generous donations from everyday Americans. And they need your help. The money helps connect our men and women in the armed forces with their families this holiday season. It’s a noble cause and one I’m donating to myself.
